Atmospheric layers of Our Earth |
1. Troposphere : It is nearest to the Earth's surface and extends to a height of about 15 km. In this layer temperature decreases as height increases.
2. Tropopause : It refers to the boundary region which separates troposphere from statosphere.
3. Stratosphere : It extends from an altitude of about 15 km. above the earth to a height of nearly 50 km. It is a region of uniform temperature. It has Plenty of ozone in the upper part which protects animal kingdom from the fatal effects of Ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
4. Mesosphere : It is a very cold region extending from 50 to 80 km. above the Earth's surface.
5. Mesopause : It Seperates mesosphere from ionosphere.
6. Ionosphere : It lies between the altitudesof 80 km and 300 km above the earth. it contains ionised gas which protects the earth from the falling meteorites ( Shooting stars). This region also facilities wireless communication.
7. Thermosphere : This is the middle layer of ionosphere having a temperature of 100 Degree Celcius.
8. Exosphere : It is the Upper most region of the atmosphere where air density is very low and gravity of the earth is exeedingly weak.
