- Bengali one of the leading Indo-Aryan languages, is the official language of West Bengal. It is spoken by 86 million people, the majority of whom are new in Bangladesh, formerly East Pakistan. Bengali emerged as a separate language around A.D. 1000. It is new one of the most advanced languages of India.
